Pregnant women will have easier access to prenatal care and to information regarding the care of the newborn.
The situation of children between 0 and 2 years old will improve due to parents and other involved with children having a conscious idea of the "good practices" in nutrition, hygiene, and stimulation of communication. Children will be immunized for principal child illnesses. Young children will grow in more physically clean environments, with fewer immediate risks such as animal excretions around the house. They will also have easier access to drinkable water and health facilities.
Parents, and particularly young parents, will feel more confident expressing their worries regarding their role as parents, and they will act with other parents and villages to contribute to the development of their children.
Children aged 3 to 5 will benefit from stimulating activities when going to preschool. They will learn to play, discover their native language, and acquire sufficient knowledge in the Vietnamese language to make the transition to primary school easier.
Children between 6 and 8 years old will be able to access the first years of primary school at their homes and in conditions facilitating them in ways that do not get in the way of the learning process.
Outside of school, children will participate in artistic activities, games, sports, narratives and theatre, and they will begin to develop a network with other children their age beyond communication of agricultural and artistic skills, including larger ideas such as ones that bring awareness of problems related to health, hygiene and nutrition, and protection of rights.
Rather than stay witness or passive beneficiaries of government programs, parents and villagers will feel capable and will want to express their concerns and propose solutions to local authorities.
The People's Committee of the district will acquire a treasured experience through development planning in order to better understand the processes and mechanisms for the participation and the positive impact that it can have on carrying out the planning, particularly in a multicultural context.
The project will continue in Bac Ha for the next three years, and the E&D intervention at Si Ma Caï will take place for four years.
