Main Activities

Improvement of the management of the health care centres:

Creation of a management committee for the health care centres and establishment of a cost-covering system.

 

Continuous training of the health care staff:

- Assistance in the recruitment, training, and follow-up of communal health care agents and of midwives.

- Organisation of mobile, preventive, and curative activities of staff in villages.

Health education

in villages and schools through young "peer" educators and children's clubs.

Community support

for the construction of latrines, the supply of drinking water and of treated mosquito nets.

 

 

 

Improvement of hygiene and nutrition of mothers and children:

• Detection of children under 5 years old suffering from severe malnutrition.
• Distribution of "hygiene and food" kits to people caring for malnourished children
• Sale at wholesale price of "oral rehydration solutions" by members of the Health Action Group.
• Nutrition demonstrations
• Campaign with the support of the Health Ministry on the following theme: "Vitamin A every six months and getting rid of parasites".
• Monthly follow-up of the weight/height ratio of children in order to identify families most in need of support.

Creation of equity funds managed by pagodas to guarantee access to treatment to the poorest segments of the population.
