Education of Parents and Mothers in Rural Cambodia
Project Title: Community Program for the Education of Parents and Mothers in Rural Cambodia
Problem setting: Promote the child's physical, intellectual and social development in the family and pre-school. To listen and meet his/her needs in order to increase chances of success in school as well as in the professional life.
General objective: The project aims to improve conditions for physical, intellectual and social development of the young Cambodian child (0 - 6 years old) in 35 villages of 3 Cambodian provinces. This is made possible by the creation of structures adapted to 3 to 5-year-olds (community preschools working autonomously), and the raising of parent awareness to children' needs (parental education).
The project is innovative in three ways:
1) It brings up an aspect (parental education) that hadn't been explored much up until now,
2) It uses an original tool: a Cambodian television series (the first) that features parent-child relationships in today's Cambodia ,
3) Finally, a local non-governmental organization specializing in community Early Childhood development has been created (another first).
